Alenka Rupnik is a retired mechanical engineer who devotes her time to processing local sheep's wool, hand weaving on looms, flax processing and silk production. Her work includes manual and semi-automated unwinding of silk cocoons, degumming of silk remnants, twisting silk threads, carding and hand-spinning silk wadding, as well as weaving and lace-making with silk. She has participated in several exhibitions, including the Triennial of Craft with textiles made from Slovenian silk. She holds KBZ Idrija Selected and Art&Craft certificates, and the title of Recognised Artisan in the field of weaving. Photo: Bojan Tavčar / Zavod za turizem.
