Handcrafted silver brooch shaped as a smoke tree leaf.
The European smoke tree (Cotinus coggygria) is a shrub thriving in the Primorska region of Slovenia. It is a pioneer species that has repopulated areas of the Karst where forests were once cleared. While it begins to display its rich variety and colour in spring, the smoke tree is most striking in autumn, when its foliage turns vivid fiery shades and leaves a lasting impression on the Karst landscape.
The brooch is made to last and can be repaired.

Zlatarstvo Skušek merges traditional goldsmithing with a passion for art, literature, and theatre. The Skušek workshop dates back to 1967 and has since focused on crafting gold and silver jewellery by hand. With deep roots in traditional goldsmithing, the studio brings an artistic sensibility to its work. Today, the workshop it is run by sisters Katja and Nataša Skušek. Inspired by nature, their designs often draw on motifs from the botanical world.
AUTHORS
Nataša Skušek studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design (ALUO) in Ljubljana, where she graduated in 2002 and completed her master's degree.
Katja Skušek hasbeen designing gold and silver jewellery for many years.
