A seris of porcelain cups embodying infinity.
The cup rests on three points that symbolise the Christian concept of the Holy Trinity. Its handle consists of two interlocking circles, representing the joining of the human and the divine into a whole – a domed vault. These joined circles also symbolise marriage (the union of two people, two wedding rings) and infinity. The cup has the shape of an egg, which is the most perfect energy form and an ancient universal symbol found in various world religions, folklore, and mythologies. The egg, or lingam, symbolises rebirth, life, prosperity, safety, creativity, and hope.
The initial research for these cups was conducted by the designer as early as 1963, specifically in St Mark’s Church and through the study of church domes at the Ai Carmini School of Industrial Design in Venice.
There are four variations available: large cup without a saucer, small cup with a saucer, white cup, and cup with a gold handle. Gift packaging is available as a single item or in pairs.
