A uniquely designed diary featuring various papers and prints, presented in a custom case with magnetic closure.
The aim of this project, which designer Ajda Schmidt has been developing in collaboration with the Tiskarna Povše printing house for 12 years, was to showcase the printing house's technical expertise in the form of a premium corporate gift that would attract more ambitious clients and bring in demanding projects. The result is a limited-edition diary, released annually. The offset-printed diary features paper in different colours, weights, textures, and designs, pages with perforation along the binding, and an internal pocket at the back cover containing a bundle of personalised stationery bearing client names. The pages intended for writing alternate with original film photographs, creating a dynamic rhythm and serving as a visual mnemonic device for the user to enable the organic creation of various thematic clusters. Due to the delicate manufacturing process, the designer creates the individual printed elements (elastic bands, strips and pockets) by hand. Each diary is inserted into a custom-made cover with a magnetic closure.
The project has received numerous domestic and international awards across its various iterations.
Since a significant amount of waste material is an inevitable part of printing process, an additional product line was created using paper that would otherwise be discarded: a simpler, unbound notebook and small tear-off notepads.
